Happy New Year from Sydney

We were lucky enough to ring in the new year with great friends and an incredible view of the fireworks display in Sydney Harbour.  Huge thanks to our wonderful hosts for the evening!

Despite best intentions, the first day of the new year has been spent lazing around at home drinking cups of tea and playing playstation (Rich) and knitting (me).  There's always tomorrow...

What lies ahead

Tomorrow morning the cats are being collected from our house to be taken to the cattery where they will spend their last six weeks in the UK before being sent to Sydney. We decided that this is the best option for them because we have to move out of our house next week and can't get short term accommodation that allows pets and can't take them with us to Ireland and to Devizes.  When they arrive in Sydney, they'll have to stay in quarantine for 30 days before we can take them home.  So it could be about 10 weeks before we see them.  It is possible to visit, both in Windsor and in Sydney but we will have to think about whether that is best for the cats.  Maybe they won't really care as long as someone gets their dinner for them each day.

This photo was taken this morning. They have no idea what is going to happen to them. Maybe that is for the best.

Here...for now.

Right now here is Southampton but not for much longer.  Rich has accepted a job offer in Sydney and in just over two months from now, we'll be on our way.
We have a lot to do between now and then but it will be an adventure and I am going to try to record it here.
